Hampers and One Meal (Hot Meal) – Tuesdays 5 pm
Community Co-op’ model of collaboration with the aim of supporting partner charities to cope with the growth in food relief demand. We partner with and support existing Community Service groups to ensure the required quantity, consistency and quality of food relief support is available.
Our Sutherland Shire ‘Co-op’ program is run collectively by One Meal, Hopefield, Orana and Shire Salvos.
Our collaborative ‘Co-op’ model has enabled us to establish inward food supply that operates at a scale that makes the required logistical effort worthwhile, effective and impactful. It has also allowed us to approach wholesalers and large businesses for support. Similarly, the outward delivery of food to recipients utilises established charity distribution channels to reach the areas of most need across the community.
We also work to ensure referral mechanisms are in place with our partner charities to ensure community members accessing food through our program are also able to access additional services offered across the network – e.g. counselling, financial support, housing assistance, etc.

Hopefield’s operations have three overlapping areas: Provision of Therapeutic Support (principally counselling, psychological services and speech therapy), Support Services Programs (offering case management, and facilitating groups with marginalised / vulnerable people) and Community Education (building awareness, skills and better management of concerns).
One Meal – It Makes a Difference is a not-for-profit, community organisation that helps to feed, clothe and support the homeless, disenfranchised, vulnerable and at-risk members of our local communities.
One Meal was founded December in 2014 when a group of friends came together to give back to the community with a one-off street service at Green Park in Sydney, providing “One Meal” to people in need at Christmas. A month later they were back again, and One Meal – It Makes a Difference was born.
One Meal now provides hundreds of meals to the people in need every week. Regular weekly community meals serve up delicious hot dinners for over 500 patrons across Sydney including Sutherland Shire (Cronulla, Miranda and Sutherland).
With locations in Miranda, Menai, Helensburgh and Engadine, (known as “Shire Salvos”) offers an holistic well-being approach with physical, emotional and spiritual supports. Services include emergency/crisis relief (such as food, clothing, advocacy and financial assistance) and access to information/resources to address needs including free financial counselling. Shire Salvos provides community and mentoring programs, including individual/group life skills courses, and court support with the Positive Lifestyle Program and manages transitional housing in the Sutherland Shire for people who are vulnerable/impacted by domestic violence.
