Dilmah partners with The Salvation Army to foster connection and support over a cuppa

The tradition of sharing a cuppa goes beyond just tea — it’s about connection, conversation, and comfort through life’s tough moments. That’s why Dilmah is partnering with The Salvation Army to offer opportunities for people facing crisis to experience warmth, kindness and a sense of belonging. Be it at a community centre or through an outreach service, a cup of tea can be the chance at a conversation that brings hope.

“We believe that a cup of tea is more than a drink — it’s an invitation to connect. For those going through tough times, the simple act of sharing tea can help foster a sense of belonging,” said Dilhan Fernando, Dilmah CEO and Tea Grower. “At Dilmah, we’re proud to partner with The Salvation Army to offer support, warmth, and companionship through a cuppa. It’s about bringing people together when they need it most.”

A cuppa that makes a difference

The Salvation Army Australia provides a range of community services and programs that assist people experiencing homelessness, family violence, financial hardship, and other crises.

This Christmas, Dilmah will donate packs of tea to a range of Salvos community centres across Australia, giving those seeking support the chance to enjoy a moment of peace amidst challenging times, and connect with staff, volunteers and their community.

In addition, from November 2024 to January 2025, 20 cents from the sale of every specially marked Dilmah Tea pack will be donated to The Salvation Army, to help them continue to ensure more people in need have access to services that provide both practical and emotional support.

“We’re incredibly grateful to Dilmah for their generous contribution,” said Major Warren Elliot. “A cup of tea can make all the difference to someone who feels alone or overwhelmed. Through this partnership, we’re able to offer not just a warm drink, but also moments of connection and care that can uplift people when they need it most.”

Supporting communities in need

Christmas can be a challenging time for many. By combining Dilmah’s ethos of kindness and community with The Salvation Army’s vital programs and services, we can help those facing hardship meet life’s challenges with renewed hope and holistic support, and give people a new beginning this festive season.

Together, Dilmah and The Salvation Army will foster moments of connection through programs that support for people doing it tough across Australia.
