St Kilda Youth Crisis Refuge
25 January 2018
The Youth Crisis Refuge in St Kilda provides safe, stable accommodation and intensive support for young people experiencing crisis and homelessness, mainly due to family breakdown.
Young people living on-site at the refuge are given assistance to develop independent living skills, access to health and wellbeing support, re-engage with education or find employment and secure long-term housing.
Rob Ellis, St Kilda Crisis Centre program manager, says thank you…
"In the last year we were able to support 450 young people and families and the 130 children that accompanied them. To everyone who supports The Salvation Army, I want to say “thank you.”
This year we were able to build two additional family units on our site, specifically for pregnant women experiencing homelessness, who often come to us from sleeping in cars or couch surfing. We also built a new classroom for our education program, which this year worked with 90 young people, including seven who were completing VCE.
Because of you, centres like the St Kilda Youth Crisis Refuge are able to genuinely change the lives of many young people to overcome homelessness."
Your generosity enables centres like St Kilda Youth Crisis Refuge to change lives and give hope.
