Holmesglen TAFE Partners With Us
31 January 2018
The Salvation Army loves working with schools who would like their students to have a meaningful volunteering opportunity. Recently a small group of VCAL students from Holmesglen TAFE Mt Waverley helped out with our community lunch in Glen Waverley.
Volunteering with The Salvation Army was a student initiated idea in conjunction with completing one of our Salvos Youth Homelessness City Tours. The students met our volunteers and made meaningful connections while helping out together. They prepared and served food to the community members as well as having conversations and getting to know them. They got to be a part of our services in action and see how the community can be brought together over a meal. An amazing experience was had by all!
‘It was good to see such humble people working for the community... It was nice to meet the people the food was made for because they were so grateful... I think what the Salvos do is so lovely because they’re bringing these people together as a group and giving them something to look forward to’. Student, Holmesglen TAFE
