Spirit of Christmas CD raises $350,000 in its 20th year

14 August 2014

Myer and The Salvation Army are pleased to announce the 2013 Myer Spirit of Christmas CD raised more than $350,000 for The Salvation Army’s social programmes - the most funds raised from the CD since 2005.

All funds raised from the sale of the CD are directed to Salvation Army children and youth programmes across Australia.

The Salvation Army’s Dr Bruce Redman said “Every CD that is bought truly makes a difference to the lives of families and young people in need.

“We want to thank Myer for their long-term partnership with The Salvation Army and look forward to working with them in the years ahead to make a real difference in people’s lives.”

Myer CEO Bernie Brookes says of the partnership: “We truly value our ongoing relationship with The Salvation Army and are pleased to continue to support the diverse and important work they do.”

Last year marked the 20th anniversary of the Myer Spirit of Christmas CD which featured artists such Marina Prior, Guy Sebastian and Jimmy Barnes.

Each year The Salvation Army is honoured to partner with Myer to spread the Christmas message of joy and hope through music. Christmas is one of the busiest times for The Salvation Army – with over 300,000 people expected to be assisted over the season.

On Christmas Day alone, over 8000 meals will be served to people who do not have anyone to celebrate with.
