Melburnian man raises $50,000 for the Salvos on his tricycle
3 October 2013
Les Porter was hit by a car 25 years ago and now has limited use of the left side of his body. Since then Les has raised over $50,000 for The Salvation Army through six tricycle charity rides.
After Les was hit by a car he acquired a brain injury and battled through five months of rehabilitation to regain his independence.
Les said officers from The Salvation Army who visited him in the rehab centre after his accident made such a positive impact on his life that he vowed to do something in return.
Still ailed by a physical disability, Les has completed six charity rides, and raised much needed funds for The Salvation Army in Wyndham, Victoria. These funds help support the homeless, the disadvantaged and those at risk in the community.
Les is currently preparing for his next tricycle journey – 1000km around Wyndham. This ride starts on October 19 2013.
