Join the Army for a day

1 May 2013

One in 20 Australians will need the help of the Salvos this year – and now the Salvos need your support.

The Salvation Army are asking for 100,000 Australians to volunteer two or three hours of their time to the 2013 Red Shield Appeal Doorknock Weekend on May 25th and 26th

The Salvos hope to raise $79 million across Australia before the end of the financial year. Money raised through the Red Shield Appeal goes directly to supporting Australians in need. These donations ensure that the 600 social programs across the country can continue to operate.

The need for collectors is bigger than ever. Across Australia, The Salvation Army’s services are under significant pressure as more people struggle to make ends meet.

Over 2 million Australians live below the poverty line – almost 600,000 of these Australians are children.

By volunteering you can help the Salvos care for over one million vulnerable Australians that the Salvos will come into contact with this year.

The Salvos want to hear from individuals, businesses, local associations, schools and local community groups who could give a few hours of their time across the weekend.

It’s volunteers that are the heartbeat of The Salvation Army – please consider joining us for a day.
