Adelaide Hills bushfire update

Update 6th January, 2015 - The Salvation Army Emergency Services in South Australia have been supporting the fire crews, SES and South Australia police who are tackling the bushfires in Adelaide Hills.
The weather has been extremely challenging for crews to contain the fires and teams have been on the ground since Friday 2 January.
To date, at least 26 houses have been lost and this is sure to increase once CFS teams are able to assess the damage.
Almost 5,000 meals have been provided to fire crews in Adelaide.
As well as providing refreshments to all emergency services personnel present, Salvation Army officers, volunteers and chaplains are on site at various locations providing practical, emotional and pastoral support where most needed.
Rod Reeve of The Salvation Army said “Many members of the public have generously provided food and water and we now have a sufficient quantity. What is required most urgently is cash donations that can be directed to the areas where it is most needed.”
Australians can donate online to the Red Shield Appeal or call 13 SALVOS asking their donation to go towards supporting the South Australia bushfires.
