Elimination of Violence against Women 2020
Violence against women is preventable. It is not always physical or visible, but all forms of violence and abuse are harmful. For many women and children in Australia, it means they do not feel safe in their homes.
Together with the community, The Salvation Army is committed to speaking out against violence against women and is advocating for change.
The Salvation Army is committed to helping people experiencing injustice, disadvantage and hardship.
Our advocacy pages provide more information about the issues we are advocating for to help eliminate violence against women.
Anti-Poverty Week 2021
The Salvation Army is committed to helping people who are facing poverty overcome their financial stress and find hope for the future. See our campaign page to see what we can do together.
Money Talks: the conversations we need to have. Financial pressures are nothing to be ashamed about, but too many people shy away from reaching out for help before a problem becomes serious. To help start the conversation about money, and make the topic comfortable for friends and family of all ages, The Salvation Army has developed these conversation starters.
Each day covers a different topic such as savings, money management and poverty. They are suitable for all ages, with some questions specifically appropriate for children, as we believe it’s important to establish a healthy money mindset from a young age.
Homelessness Week 2021
National Homelessness Week (1-7 August) is an annual campaign coordinated by Homelessness Australia. It seeks to raise awareness around people experiencing homelessness, the issues they face, and the action needed to achieve long-lasting solutions – including increasing the supply of social housing.
The Salvation Army’s key theme for National Homelessness Week 2021 is Unlocking the door to ‘home’.
The Salvation Army believes everyone deserves a place to call ‘home’. Australia has the resources to eliminate homelessness – we just need to work together to make it happen. Browse below for some submissions The Salvation Army has made in our efforts to end homelessness.
