As the Red Shield Appeal draws to a close and the end of the financial year gets closer, my heart is aching for people like Sarah who are still living in dangerous homes.
With rent at an all-time high and housing access at an all-time low, families experiencing domestic violence face impossible choices.
They either stay and face the daily trauma and fear of violence…
…Or they leave and become homeless.
Please will you make a tax-deductible gift today and help ensure families in need get to safety and security they all deserve?
When Sarah first called us, she and her children had nothing. No money. No toys.
And suddenly no home either.
They were nervous and afraid, after living in fear of Sarah’s violent and controlling partner.
Sarah had a 10-minute escape window, seized her chance, and came to us with her children - and one bag of items she grabbed on the way out.
Clutched in her hand was a phone number, her one hope… a safe place with the Salvos.
Thanks to a giving heart like yours… Sarah’s call was answered, and we found her a place in short-term Salvos Emergency Accommodation.
Finally, Sarah and her children were safe.
With 1 in 4 women in Australia have experienced violence by an intimate partner or family member, please will you act now and send a tax-deductible gift? Your gift will go towards helping families like Sarah’s find safety and hope for a new beginning.
